TAKE-HOME WHITENING INSTRUCTIONS

With Philips Zoom Whitening Products

1. Brush & floss thoroughly before each whitening treatment to ensure your teeth are clean.

2. Apply whitening gel:

Place a small drop of gel into the custom tray along the outer wall of each tooth, so the gel contacts the front surface of the teeth when the tray is seated.

Use only what is needed—approximately 1/3 syringe per treatment. Excess gel will simply squeeze out and be wasted.

You may spread the gel slightly with the syringe tip or a toothpick for better coverage.

3. Avoid sensitive areas:

Do not place gel on teeth that are already sensitive. Crowns and veneers do not whiten and do not require gel.

4. Insert the trays:

Seat the trays fully and ensure they fit comfortably.

Do not eat, drink, or smoke while wearing the trays.

Wipe away any excess gel that overflows onto the gums.

5. Wear trays according to your whitening system:

  • NiteWhite 16% Carbamide Peroxide: Wear for at least 2 hours daily or overnight.
  • DayWhite 9.5% Hydrogen Peroxide: Wear for 30 minutes daily.

Most patients achieve optimal results within 1–2 weeks.

Store any remaining gel in the refrigerator to help maintain its effectiveness.

6. After whitening:

Remove the trays and rinse them with soap and water.

Rinse the gel thoroughly from your teeth.

Avoid vigorous brushing immediately afterward.

7. If sensitivity occurs:

Use Sensodyne® or another sensitivity toothpaste.

You may also place a small amount of sensitivity toothpaste in the trays and wear them at night.

Use white, noncolored toothpaste.

8. Ultra EZ:

If provided, use after whitening to help reduce sensitivity.

Place Ultra EZ in the trays and wear for 30 minutes.

Do not use Ultra EZ for more than 4 weeks unless directed by your dentist.

9. Avoid staining foods and beverages for at least 48 hours after whitening.

Teeth can be more susceptible to staining during this time.

Limit items such as red wine, berries, cola, coffee, dark chocolate, and other dark-colored foods and beverages.

Brushing after eating or drinking can help minimize staining.

Kindly contact the office should you have any questions or concerns.
