Invisalign Wear & Care Instructions

January 1, 2026

⏱️ WEARING YOUR ALIGNERS

Wear full time – at least 20–22 hours per day (including while sleeping).
• Only remove them for:
 o Eating
o Brushing and flossing your teeth.
• You’ll usually switch to a new set of aligners every week.
• If an aligner does not fit well at the end of the week, continue wearing it longer and contact us for further instruction.

🦷 PUTTING IN AND REMOVING ALIGNERS

To insert:
• Place aligners over teeth and press gently with your fingers.
• Use both hands and even pressure. You may use the squishy end of a toothbrush or the chewies you have been given.
Do not bite them into place (this can damage them).

To remove:
• Start from the back molars.
• Use your fingertips and pull gently from both sides.

🧼 CLEANING YOUR ALIGNERS

• Rinse with cool or lukewarm water every time you remove them.
Brush aligners daily with a soft toothbrush and liquid soap. Do not use toothpaste, as this is abrasive and can scratch aligners.
• You can soak them in Invisalign cleaning crystals or denture cleaner solution (Polident) – but remember, they should be in your mouth rather than soaking in cleaner solution!
Avoid hot water because it can warp the plastic.
• Do not use bleach, alcohol-containing mouth rinse, or harsh chemicals.

🍽️ EATING & DRINKING

Always remove aligners before eating.
• You can keep your aligners in while drinking and remove them afterward to rinse your mouth and the trays.
• After eating:
o Brush and floss if possible.
o If you can’t brush, rinse your mouth and the aligners before putting them back in.

📦 STORAGE

• Always keep aligners in their protective case when not wearing them.
• Avoid wrapping them in napkins (they often get thrown away accidentally).

⚠️ ADDITIONAL TIPS

• Check aligners daily for cracks, damage, or buildup.
• Start new aligners at night so initial discomfort occurs while sleeping.
• Use chewies if provided to help aligners seat properly.
• If you experience any discomfort – OK to take Tylenol. Do not take Advil or other anti-inflammatories.

✅ KEY RULE

The closer you stay to full-time wear, the faster and more accurate your treatment results will be.

Kindly contact our office if you have any questions or concerns.
