Philips Zoom DayWhite 9.5 %HP (Hydrogen Peroxide) and UltraEZ
1. Thoroughly brush & floss your teeth to ensure they are clean prior to whitening.
2. Place a small drop of whitening gel into the custom trays along the ‘outer wall’ of each tooth so that when they are placed on the teeth the gel will be on the front surfaces of the teeth. Use only what you need, approx. 1/3 to 1/2 of syringe per whitening treatment. If too much gel is used, it will just be compressed out as the trays are seated over the teeth & it will be wasted. This gel can also be spread slightly (with the syringe tip or a toothpick) to allow for better tooth coverage when seated.
3. Avoid placing the gel on oversensitive teeth. Crowns or veneers will not need any gel as they will not change color and may damage the surface.
4. Seat the trays over the teeth. Make sure they are fully seated & fit comfortably. Do not eat, drink, or smoke while wearing trays. Wipe off any excess gel that overflows out of the tray so that there isn’t too much gel sitting on the gums.
5. Wear trays for 30 mins per day. Most patients will achieve optimal results within 1-2 weeks. After treatment you may have some leftover solution which is better stored in the fridge to help with longevity.
6. Remove trays, rinse them off with soap and water. Wash all the gel off the teeth. Avoid vigorous brushing following whitening to avoid scrubbing the whitening agent into the teeth.
7. If you experience teeth sensitivity brush with Sensodyne or sensitivity toothpaste. You may also leave some sensitivity toothpaste on at nighttime and put your trays on top to help with sensitivity. Do not use coloured toothpaste, just white.
8. If you receive Ultra EZ with your treatment you may use it after you have whitened your teeth to help with sensitivity. Seat the tray and leave it on for 30 mins. Do not use Ultra EZ for more than 4 weeks unless recommended by dentist.
9. Avoid any staining food for at least 48 hours as the teeth are more porous following whitening & will trap the stain a lot easier. Staining teeth can be minimized by always brushing after eating or drinking. Food that increases stains would be items like red wine, berries, coke / cola, coffee, dark chocolate, and any other dark foods or beverages.
